THE CONTEXT
Located in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, between Bolgheri and Montalcino, Rocca di Frassinello vineyards are particularly suited to quality viticulture. In this area, the vine was already cultivated by the Etruscans, as proved by the intriguing objects found in the Necropolis of S. Germano, discovered within the estate. The soils, rich in calcareous marl and skeleton, and the breeze coming from the nearby Tyrrhenian Sea make it possible to obtain excellent grapes which, strictly hand-picked, give life to Rocca di Frassinello wine, the grand vin of the cellar. Blend of Sangioveto, Cabernet S. and Merlot, it is an elegant and enticing red wine awarded with top ratings since the 1st harvest (2004). The winemaker is Alessandro Cellai, a proud pupil of Giacomo Tachis, father of the Renaissance of Italian wine.
